
Microsoft Computer Systems Engineer Course
Lions World Services for the Blind are please to offer Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) training. This training program is ten months in length preceded by a one month evaluation. An internship is offered upon completion of the training program
The curriculum throughout the course prepares students for MCSE 2003 industry-standard certification through seven certification exams. This type of training and the certification provides several employment opportunities which are on the cutting edge of technology. The person who is blind or visually impaired can work at businesses that have a computer network internally or externally, such as educational institutions, hospitals, government agencies, banks, and much more.
According to statistical data There are extreme shortages of skilled personnel available to fill critical information technology positions nationwide and there are many channels of service within the information technology field where sight impaired individuals can function competitively with sighted individuals.
Trainees who have successfully completed the MCSE 2003 course will be able to:
- Troubleshoot and correct hardware problems and software configuration issues
- Install and configure Windows 2003 Server Software
- Install and configure Windows XP Professional Software
- Connect Windows 2003 Clients to networks and the Internet
- Create and manage user accounts
- Use groups to manage resources such as files, programs, and printers
- Configure and manage disks and partitions
- Identify the information technology needs of an organization and design an information technology solution to fit those needs
- Design a network that incorporates elements of security as part of the fundamental design
The Microsoft Computer Systems Engineer 2003 course offers the following hands-on training which is led by qualified instructors:
- Fundamentals of Personal Computer Hardware and Operating Systems
- Introduction to Networking Infrastructure and Operating Systems
- XP Professional
- 2003 Server
- Implementing and Administering Microsoft Windows 2003 Directory
- Designing a Microsoft Windows 2003 Directory Services Infrastructure
- Designing a Secure Windows 2003 Network
- Externship
To participate in the training, a prospective trainee must complete a 30 day evaluation at LWSB, at the end of which, these qualifications must be met:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong Braille skills, if applicable
- Print reading speed 100 wpm, good comprehension
- Excellent keyboarding skills
- High level of proficiency on appropriate assistive technology
- High school knowledge of business math
- Strong logical reasoning ability
- Passing score on the Wonderlic test
- Passing scores on the Computer Programmer Aptitude Battery
- Independent living skills in orientation and mobility, grooming, home management
- Positive attitude
- Heavy emphasis on excellent interpersonal skills, good verbal skills
- Willingness to relocate for employment
