Microsoft Computer Systems Engineer

Now Teaching New Curriculum - Microsoft Computer Systems Engineer 2003.

The next class for MCSE starts on April 28, 2008, and based on the national interest we have had, it will fill up fast! The first eleven classes have had enormous success, so send clients as soon as possible to assure space in the next class, with the latest date for entrance being March 31, 2008. A client can complete the LWSB 30-day evaluation now, and an admissions interview to reserve a place in the class starting in April, 2008.

The curriculum throughout the 10-month course prepares trainees for MCSE 2003 certification, through seven (7) certification exams, with certification exams for A+ and Network+. The course includes with an internship, an excellent opportunity for your client to gain work-force experience. The training is designed to prepare a person to work as a computer systems problem-solver at a business that has a computer network, internally or externally, such as educational institutions, hospitals, government agencies, or banks. The entry level position is usually at a help desk with advancement into information technology management.

The class beginning April 28, 2008 will use the 2003 curriculum, so advise clients of this opportunity to begin a career armed with the most up-to-date knowledge in the industry.

In addition to assuring a place in the class by coming in early for the evaluation, individuals will have time for training in adjustment areas such as communication skills or independent living skills. If needed, LWSB offers comprehensive services to meet all your needs.

Trainees who have successfully completed the MCSE 2003 course will be able to:

  • Troubleshoot and correct hardware problems and software configuration issues
  • Install and configure Windows 2003 Server Software
  • Install and configure Windows XP Professional Software
  • Connect Windows 2003 Clients to networks and the Internet
  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Use groups to manage resources such as files, programs, and printers
  • Configure and manage disks and partitions
  • Identify the information technology needs of an organization and design an information technology solution to fit those needs
  • Design a network that incorporates elements of security as part of the fundamental design

The Microsoft Computer Systems Engineer 2003 course offers the following hands-on training which is led by qualified instructors:

  • Fundamentals of Personal Computer Hardware and Operating Systems
  • Introduction to Networking Infrastructure and Operating Systems
  • XP Professional
  • 2003 Server
  • Implementing and Administering Microsoft Windows 2003 Directory
  • Designing a Microsoft Windows 2003 Directory Services Infrastructure
  • Designing a Secure Windows 2003 Network
  • Implementing and Managing Microsoft Exchange 2003
  • Externship

To participate in the training, a prospective trainee must complete a 30 day evaluation at LWSB, at the end of which, these qualifications must be met:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong Braille skills, if applicable
  • Print reading speed 100 wpm, good comprehension
  • Excellent keyboarding skills
  • High level of proficiency on appropriate assistive technology
  • High school knowledge of business math
  • Strong logical reasoning ability
  • Passing scores on the Wonderlic test
  • Independent living skills in orientation and mobility, grooming, home management
  • Positive attitude
  • Heavy emphasis on excellent interpersonal skills, good verbal skills
  • Willingness to relocate for employment

Individuals who need personal adjustment training that may take more than 30 days to reach the required standards listed above are encouraged to contact LWSB immediately and possibly begin training now in pre-requisite areas.
