Horticulture Course
We are now taking applications for the Horticulture training program. Enrollment is open. Clients must report to LWSB for the required one-month evaluation period prior to entering training in the vocational program.
The Horticulture program is a three-level course of four to nine months. Each tier of the program is constructed to teach a higher level of knowledge and skill, to attain a job in a variety of horticulture-related businesses.
The curriculum includes methods of propagation, plant identification, plant maintenance, soil composition, and basic tools and materials used in the greenhouse, nursery or garden. Trainees learn from a combination of textbook-work and hands-on training on the campus grounds and in the 1,200 square-foot greenhouse. Advanced trainees also receive instruction in Small Business Management to acquaint them with the procedures for opening and operating their own business.
